Potensi Terapi Komplementer Pijat Oksitosin Berbasis Esensial Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) terhadap Aspek Kecukupan Kandungan Zat Gizi ASI pada Ibu Post-Sectio Caesarea

Abstrak

Suboptimal breast milk production after a cesarean section (CS) due to pain and psychological barriers can delay the onset of lactogenesis II. This condition threatens the fulfillment of neonatal nutrition and increases the risk of early formula feeding, which can lead to stunting. This descriptive case study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of complementary therapy, lavender-based oxytocin massage, on meeting indicators of breast milk nutritional adequacy in two post CS postpartum mothers at Dewi Sri Hospital, Karawang. The intervention, which involved tactile massage of the 5th-6th costal vertebrae using lavender oil, was performed for three consecutive days (10-15 minutes per session). Success parameters were measured using a clinical observation sheet based on eight indicators of infant nutritional adequacy. Initial assessment results showed Subject 1 had a score of 2 (not fluent) and Subject 2 had a score of 4 (substandard). Post-intervention on the third day, Subject 1's score increased significantly to 7 (fluent), and Subject 2 reached a maximum score of 8 (fluent). Tactile stimulation combined with lavender bioactive components has bee shown to effectively accelerate breast milk ejection, meet the baby's essential nutritional needs, and minimize the risk of exclusive lactation failure.
